Illuminant Lighting Concept by Kristi?n Birna Bjarnado?ttir lighting

Icelandic designer Kristi?n Birna Bjarnado?ttir has created a lamp made of reflective material, normally used for safety clothing. The translucent, reflective shade is suspended from fishing line above an LED light source, which is placed on the floor beneath. Fine ribbons of the same reflective fabric hang from the shade. Coloured disks placed on top of the LED unit alter the colour of light reflected and distributed by the shade. The lights were on show at DesignMarch in Reykjavik, Iceland, last week. Read more »

Style
, Unless you live in a strictly regimented procedure, “you do not have to match the style to the room,” Lisa Frederickson lighting Seattle. First, decide if you want something contemporary or traditional, then check the selection store. If you see a line you want, but not the exact fire, ask to consult the catalog of the manufacturer.
Size Matters, If you use the lamp for ambient light (general room illumination) or as a decorative accent, almost any size will do. But if you intend to use it for reading, make sure it is big enough to shed light on the area where the reader will be seated. There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to read by the light of a small lamp ornament. (Bed and breakfast owners, are you listening?)
Size, If the lamp will rest beside a chair or sofa, bottom of the shade should be at the same level as the ear of the person sitting to prevent the bulb to shine in their eyes. Before going to store lighting, measure the height of the table, the fire will be seated, and the distance between the floor to your ear, and translate these steps when you shop.
Proportion, Make sure the lamp is properly proportioned to the table on which it will be seated. You do not want the shadow extending beyond the edge of the table. However, you do not want the fire so small that it is overshadowed by the table.
Check the weight, Take the lamp and see if the base is weighted. A strong base will not be reversed so easily – something to consider if you have young children or the lamp is in a high traffic area. As a general rule, the cheaper the lamp, minus the basis of weight. Reserve for lightweights rarely used areas or places where children are not wandering.
What Watt?, Light reading should produce at least 100 watts of light. Since easiest outlet on / take off 60-watt lamp bulb at most, opt for a device that holds a three-way bulb instead. “Three ways are always the best solution,” says Heather Caturia Harold’s Fine Home Lighting in Seattle. Even in this case, make sure that the lamp works with a 50-100-150-watt light bulb; 30-70 — 100-watt light bulb is less effective. An alternative is a lamp with 2 or 3 sockets which can be activated independently or jointly.
Equipment, Again, everything is permitted. If you know what kind of surface of the lamp remains, try to choose a fire base that complements that end. If the table is not too big, considering bringing with you when you shop, where a drawer, take with you that instead.
Shades, The shadow is equally crucial to the success that lamp base.
