The New Norwegian Embassy that constructed from local materials, with local labourers, and the intention is to integrate the building with the surrounding city texture, such as wood and stone is located in Patan, on the outskirts of Kathmandu, Nepal was designed by the Norwegian architectural firm Kristin Jarmund Architects on commission from the Norwegian Directorate of Public Construction and Property. The building is integrated into the slope of the site, allowing plateaus of outdoor space to extend into the building. A south facing intimate patio is directly linked to the vestibule inside. The “super-functionalist” office building that located in Groningen, Netherlands, named Shaken Office was completed by Zerodegree Architecture. The two buildings of impressive architecture design; an identical set of floor plans, with spaces to be rented from 15 minutes to 15 years on limited resources, for office and scientific laboratory uses. The design of the facade is not final, and the facade panels are perforated steel panels covering 50% of the “second skin”. They aim to rejuvenate the functionalist architecture with a form of energy. A monolith of a sensual translucency, light body and voluptuous shape, the architects call the “super-functionalism, ” the rhetoric “lightness makes a strong impression” on its base. Read more »
