Django Building, an apartment complex was designed by KCAP Architects & Planners is located in the first district of the Zuidas, in Amsterdam’s Zuidas development area, Amsterdam, Netherlands. From the amount of discarded containers laying around the building site of the Salam Centre in the city of Soba, Khartoum, in Sudan, the architect had the idea to use them again as a template for modern African development in its constructed housing for the centre’s international medical staff, Medical Housing Compound. The resultant housing compound, placed beside the hospital in the surroundings of the Nile river, is realized around a great courtyard full of mango trees. The total delivery cost for the 60 lodgings and cafeteria at 468 €/sq m was 1.08million€. Comparatively this is around 150€/sq m cheaper than starter housing in the United Kingdom. Read more »

The sustainable architecture design is the Bridges Master Plan in Calgary, Canada by Sturgess Architecture. Founded on the Canadian Prairie in 1885, the city of Calgary has sprawled to one million people. In 1914, the General Hospital was built overlooking Calgary’s downtown, physically severing the Bridgeland community from the city. In 1998, it was demolished.
