The House Stenger is a contemporary Dutch residential building was designed by architects Kirsten Gabriels and James Webb, Gabriëls Webb Architecture and Design. Located on IJburg, in Amsterdam, Netherlands, the House Stenger is private residence was designed for individual client needs. A site with a south facing view to a canal on the Grote Rietland of IJburg provided a unique opportunity for a family to live in a free-standing villa within 20 minutes of central Amsterdam. The family of four, a score composer and a business scenario writer with 2 teenage children required a house that provided opportunities to live both together and independently. Read more »

The Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park is the type of Japanese garden known as a wet walking garden, although it has a Zen garden, or dry garden area as well. The Japanese Tea Garden was first developed as the Japanese Village at the 1894 Cali1fornia Midwinter International Exposition, or World’s Fair, which was held in the area that is now the Music Concourse. Golden Gate Park’s Japanese Tea Garden is the oldest public Japanese garden in the United States. John McLaren, who is credited with much of the overall design and development of Golden Gate Park, was approached by Makoto Hagiwara, a wealthy Japanese landscape designer, with the idea of converting the temporary exhibit into a permanent section of the park.
