Shell House in Japan by Kotaro Ide architecture design

Located in Japan, the Shell House is a sculptural large shell shaped structure that built in the woods of Karuizawa, located in Kitasaku, Nagano. The Shell House was designed by Japanese Architect Kotaro Ide, ARTechnic Architects, the concrete home building comprises two tubes with oval sections is meant to function as a vacation home, which is able to withstand the humid summers and cold winters of the region. To accomplish this, Kotaro Ide opted not to use the typical wood structure of two-storey house design in the area because of their susceptibility to decay easily. Read more »

Aoyama Technical College, the robot building was designed by Japanese architect Makoto Sei Watanabe is located in the Shibuya district of Tokyo, Japan. Born in Yokohama in 1952, Makoto Sei Watanabe graduated in Architecture at the National University of Yokohama in 1976. He worked for the studio Arata Isokazi & Associates until 1979. This modern Contemporary house is a house for an industrial designer standing in a quiet residential area in metropolitan Tokyo, Japan with a distinctly industrial edge. Designed by Japanese Architect Koji Tsutsui, it was required that the house work with the client’s own sentiments towards the fashion and function of design. Along the process of putting together the requirements, it became clear that the client wished to have: an open atelier to outside; a study with a view to the car; a living/ dining space where his treasured industrial products will be displayed; and completely separated guest room and bed room for sleep. On the other hand, considering that the act of thinking about design is part of the client’s daily life, it occurred to me that the division between designing and living needed to be as ambiguous as possible. The city had decided to invite several international architects and artists to participate the design of a new park.
