This Architecture Design, Restaurant and bar “Werd” in Zurich, Switzerland, designed by Burkhalter Sumi Architekten. The semi-sun protection in the form of alternating fix aufrollbaren and textile-covered membranes is uebergrossen both sides with plant motifs printed. The juicy Pfeiffenwinden “beranken” the base of the tower and occur with the environment and the green flooring in a dialogue. The oversized images – the amount of a leaf is roughly the size of a human being – alienate the scale of the place, in the town centre, a garden pavilion. The corner of winding access to the restaurant refers to Blockrandbebauungen 19th Jahhunderts and contrasts modernists the open nature of the plant with Plaza, pavilion and the two high-rise windows. The caption of the restaurant “covers” the wind Fang with letters or word fragments. Read more »

Rafael Arozarena High School, designed by AMP Arquitectos, S.L., located in Lercaro Urbanization, La Orotava, Spain. The building is set on a plot of land that is very close to the historic town centre of La Orotava and this large building blends in perfectly with, and relates to the urban lay-out, the topography of the land around and in its visual relations from the near-by listed buildings.

The school has been resolved as a plinth for the buildings located on the edge of the city centre, on the axes Colegio Street – S. Francisco Street. In the implementation of the project, consideration has been given to maintenance costs by using a very elemental lay-out, primary materials and recordable installations. Read more »

The American Institute of Architects (Hong Kong Chapter) honoured RMJM‘s design for Mont Orchid Riverlet Residential Development in Shenzhen with a Merit Award for Architecture. China Merchant Real Estate retained RMJM when the previous architect was unable to deliver the appropriate design.

The Developer, Beijing North Star Industrial Group, selected RMJM because they were able to complete the Dubai International Convention Centre on time and within budget. “North Star found out that we were the architects,” recalls David Pringle, Managing Director of RMJM Asia. “And since the Beijing Olympic Green National Convention Centre has similar functions, they asked us to bid. Designed by Arkhefield. The building plan form is lean dictated by the limitation of the site and program. The building shuts down to the East and West by means a series of insitu concrete walls and opens up its long north and south sides with the use of full height glass curtain walling.

The site is located at the north western corner of the Toowoomba Base Hospital at 152 West Street. The site, which was originally a house block, is flanked on the north by a motel and by the hospital grounds on the south and east boundaries. Read more »

Home Design for Single Family, Erlenbach House architecture design

This building, Erlenbach House, Swiss designed by Burkhalter Sumi Architekten, 2005. The unique premise situated below Pflugstein, a popular recreational destination above the lake of Zurich, consists of two different zones, one on a higher artificial plateau and the other one on a declining hillside overlooking the lake. In the eighties, the existing group of houses on the plateau was renovated and expanded into a walled-in housing complex by the architect Pierre Zoelly. The building is situated at the junction between the plateau and the hill, south of the existing housing complex. Read more »
