Glasgow Arts Building, The Bridge Arts Centre was designed by Gareth Hoskins Architects is located in Easterhouse, Glasgow, United Kingdom. The Bridge Arts Centre was also a finalist in the BCI Public Building Award and the Prime Minister’s Better Public Building Award, an award launched by the Prime Minister in 2000 to encourage high-quality design in new public buildings. The Bridge Arts Centre was the only Scottish project shortlisted for these awards and competed against a number of high-profile London-based projects.

The Glasgow Arts Building has already won six other awards this year including the Scottish Design Awards 2007 and the RIBA national awards and is currently further shortlisted for the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland’s Andrew Doolan Award.

Following on from the practice’s ‘Architecture Grand Prix’ win at the recent Scottish Design Awards 2007 and RIBA Regional Awards, Gareth Hoskins Architects have gone on to win the first Royal Institute of British Architects National Awards, for The Bridge Arts Centre in Easterhouse, Glasgow. Announced at the Hilton in London on Friday night, the design was described as ‘sensational and stunning’ and as a truly accessible project that represented ‘urban regeneration at its most powerful’.

The Easterhouse Building provides a theatre, dance studio, recording studios, production suites, visual arts spaces, community library, cafe and the base for the National Theatre for Scotland, and linked to a wider complex of facilities including leisure and further education as the focal point within Glasgow City Council’s Cultural Campus Project, and was the only project from Scotland to receive a National Award. The project now goes on to the prestigious RIBA Stirling Prize Awards mid-list and is the only Scottish project to be shortlisted for the Prime Minister’s Better Public Buildings Award. more architecture design in Glasgow, United Kingdom
